When someone posts a personal Milano Moment on Milano’s Facebook Page by Midnight tonight, Pepperidge Farm will donate $.50 per Moment up to $50,000! This is such an easy way to raise money for a cause that affects just about everyone in some way. In light of the cause I thought I would share my inspiration for the Susan G Komen fundraiser to help encourage you to share your moment for this fundraising campaign.
During a routine yearly physical I expressed an increase of breast tenderness all of the time. I was to the point where I was wearing sports bras most of the time and Michael touching them was out of the question!
So my Doctor verified through a breast exam that there were quite a few cysts in both breasts and ordered my a Mammogram and Ultrasound for the following week. He was very optimistic that the cysts wouldn’t be a problem because the cysts on the inside of breasts were symmetrical and benign cysts typically are.
So off to my first Mammogram at the age of 23 you can be sure that I was nervous! I will give the location credit because they try to make it as comfortable as possible and it is decorated so homey but you still can’t help but remember the real reason you are there.
We started with the ultrasound because she said I was really young and if they didn’t see anything in the ultrasound we wouldn’t do the mammogram. The ultrasound was so terribly painful because they push down on all of the areas that you have cysts so they can take a picture of them. I wasn’t too in love with the technician because she had a terrible beside manner! I was full of nervous chatter when I wasn’t grimacing in pain and she gave me the shortest answers ever! I had to stay laying down because I was extremely light headed from the pain.
The mammogram was easier than the ultrasound but it still wasn’t a girls’ dream! The end result was that I have fibroid breast tissue and there wasn’t anything they recommended for the pain. So I am happy to know that I have a base line picture of my breasts for a comparison in the future! My Doctor recommended having another test, Breast-Specific Gamma Imaging (BSGI), done for a better picture and I plan on getting it before the end of the year.
